OKLAHOMA CITY — Team USA swept the final day of Border Battle XV, with both the Men’s and Women’s Futures squads earning victories, followed by wins from the senior Men’s and Women’s teams against Canada to secure the overall title.
2025 Women’s Border Battle
Strong hitting and steady defense carried the U.S. Women’s Slow Pitch National Team to a 12–5 win over Canada, securing a sixth straight Border Battle championship and finishing the event with a 6–1 record. Ruby Richie powered the offense with a single, double, and home run, driving in three and scoring three times. Jessica Tolbert went a perfect 4-for-4 with four singles and two runs, while Fiana Finau added two home runs and three RBIs. The U.S. totaled 21 hits in the win, including six multi-hit performances.
After Canada scored once in the top of the first, the U.S. answered with four runs in the bottom half, highlighted by a solo homer from Finau and a series of base hits. Canada briefly moved ahead in the third with extra-base hits and timely singles to take a 5–4 lead. Richie answered with a two-run home run, followed by four straight singles that pushed the score to 8–5. Finau struck again in the fourth with a two-run blast, and in the sixth, a Richie double and a Tolbert single brought home the final two runs before the U.S. closed out the game in the seventh.
Across five games, the U.S. posted a .597 team batting average, collecting 95 hits and scoring 78 runs. Richie led the team at .917, followed by Licuanan at .800, and both Sarah Davis and Jessica Tolbert at .733. Finau and Richie each hit three home runs, the most on the team.
2025 Men’s Border Battle
The U.S. Men’s Slow Pitch National Team delivered a dominant 38–21 run-rule win over Canada in five innings to claim its 13th Men’s Border Battle title. Team USA piled up 32 hits and launched 10 home runs, with Ben Dunn hitting three and Jeremy Yates adding two. All 11 U.S. batters recorded at least one hit, and 10 had multi-hit games. Jeremy Fry led the lineup with a perfect 5-for-5 performance.
Canada jumped out early with five runs in the first, but the U.S. answered with a 10-run inning fueled by home runs from Yates, Heath Barnes, Dunn, and Tyler Marshburn. Canada surged again in the second to take a 15–11 lead, only for the U.S. to respond with five runs of its own. After Canada added two in the third, the U.S. extended the lead with a mix of doubles and home runs to make it 25–17. Canada narrowed the gap with four runs in the fourth, but Team USA erupted for 13 runs in the bottom of the inning, capped by homers from Dunn, Yates, Fry, and Phil Matte. The U.S. held Canada scoreless in the fifth to end the game by run rule, setting a new mark for most runs in a Border Battle contest.
Over five games, the U.S. men posted a .694 team batting average with 111 hits. Dunn led at .909, followed by Fry at .882 and Andrew Collins at .857. Collins hit seven home runs, Dunn added six, and the team finished the event with 35 total home runs.
With this victory, the U.S. men improved their all-time Border Battle record to 13 titles, compared to two for Canada since the series began in 2009.
U.S. Futures Teams
U.S. Women’s Futures Slow Pitch National Team
The Women’s Futures closed the weekend with back-to-back wins over Smash It/Tolbert’s All-Stars and JMI Sports, finishing Border Battle XV with a 5–1 record. Their only loss came against the senior U.S. Women’s team in the annual Slow Pitch Showdown. In the first game of the day, the Futures earned an 11–4 win, scoring in five of six innings and collecting 16 hits, including five multi-hit games and a perfect 4-for-4 performance from Kristina Sherriff. They followed with a 12–1 victory over JMI Sports, again producing five multi-hit efforts. The team finished the event with 97 total hits and a .497 batting average.
U.S. Men’s Futures Slow Pitch National Team
The Men’s Futures opened the day with a 17–2 run-rule win over Elevate & Celebrate, then defeated Anarchy/GGC/TWP, 27–16, to close the tournament with a 5–1 record. Their only loss came against the senior U.S. Men’s team in the 2025 Slow Pitch Showdown. Across the two games, the Futures scored 44 runs on 39 hits and blasted 16 home runs. Anthony Acevedo led the team with a .864 batting average, followed by Tyler Storey at .833 and Bryan Dezern at .688. Acevedo also topped the team with seven home runs, while Austyn Dawe and Logan Rogers each hit six, and Brent Zomer and Tyler Storey added five apiece.
